The Medina and its Souks

The oldest and largest medieval city in the world, Fes was founded in 789 A.D. and is considered the intellectual, spiritual, cultural and religious capital of Morocco. Our sightseeing tour focuses on Fes el Bali or Medina which retains its medieval charm as donkeys and mules are still the preferred mode of transport.
Enter the Medina through the Bab Boujeloud which is the gate that links the old and new quarters of Fes, and visit the many Medersas or Quranic Schools, the surroundings of the Quaraouiyine Mosque which has been the center of Islamic teaching for more than 1000 years, the El Attarine Souk, the Tanners's quarter and the Spices Market.
